Mechanical seal of the mixing tank

May 09, 2026 Leave a message

A mechanical seal changes the sealing surface of a rotating shaft from axial to radial. It achieves sealing through the mutual contact and relative movement of two end faces of a rotating ring and a stationary ring; it is also known as an end face seal. Mechanical seals have low leakage rates, reliable sealing performance, low power consumption, long service life, require minimal maintenance, and can meet the sealing requirements of automated production processes and environments with high temperatures, low temperatures, high pressures, high vacuums, high speeds, and various flammable, explosive, corrosive, abrasive, and particulate-containing media.

Compared with packing seals, mechanical seals have the following advantages:

1. Reliable sealing: The seal remains stable during long-term operation with minimal leakage, approximately 1% of that of packing seals.

2. Long service life: 1-2 years or longer in oil and water media, and more than six months in chemical media.

3. Low frictional power consumption: Only 10-50% of that of packing seals.

4. Minimal wear on the shaft or bushing.

5. Long maintenance cycle: Wear on the end face is automatically compensated for, generally requiring minimal maintenance.

6. Good vibration resistance: Insensitive to vibration, runout, and misalignment of the shaft relative to the sealing cavity.

7. Wide applicability: Suitable for sealing in high-temperature, low-temperature, high-pressure, vacuum, different rotational frequencies, and various corrosive and abrasive media.
